Just Between Girlfriends Girl's Night Out: Denim & Diamonds NY

Women's history event in New York on March 22, 2006. Hundreds of professional, multicultural women will attend, to raise money and awareness to help combat domestic violence.

New York, NY (PRWEB) March 15, 2006 -- Just Between Girlfriends women’s networking group’s five-city, nation “Girls Night Out: Denim & Diamonds 2006 Tour” will make a stop in Manhattan March 22, 2006 at Stereo located at 512 W. 29th Street. The Girls Night Out celebration is designed to raise money and awareness to help combat domestic violence. This series of denim & diamonds theme parties was launched last month in Houston; other stops include Atlanta, Tampa and Los Angeles.

The JBG Girls Night Out tour is part of a year-long program launched by JBG Founder and NY Daily News Reporter Chrisena Coleman. After reporting on a series of domestic violence stories, Chrisena wanted raise awareness about the issue, encourage women to take a stand and break the cycle. Each year, more than five million women are victimized by domestic violence and nearly 1,500 are killed. This national epidemic affects women regardless of their race, age, religion, net worth, education or sexual orientation.

“Domestic Violence is a serious problem,” said Coleman, an award-winning journalist at the New York Daily News who covers the Bronx Supreme Court House beat for the newspaper. “Domestic Violence is that dirty little secret that our grandmothers, mothers, sisters, aunts, nieces, daughters, girlfriends, neighbors and co-workers have dealt with in private, but it's time to break the cycle of silence and take action against those who abuse.”

Though domestic violence is no laughing matter, 42-year-old Coleman’s tour will focus on friendship, philanthropy and lots of fun. The four-hour parties will include a silent auction, denim & diamonds fashion parade, domestic violence survivors/speakers, musical and comedy performances, line dancing, karaoke, giveaways and interactive games that require audience participation.

The New York Girls Night Out will be hosted by Radio Personality Shaila, of 98.7 KISS-FM. In honor of women’s history month, JBG will honor several notable New York women including, Shon Gables, of CBS Morning Show, Robin Verges, of Rubenstein & Associates; Patrice Tanaka, of PTanaka & Company; Dedra Tate, Flavor Unit; Carol Mackey, Black Expressions and Jennifer Juerges, Crouch & Fitzgerald.

JBG will donate a portion of the proceeds to a local domestic violence charity in each city, the New York charity is inMotion, Justice For All Women. The event is open to the public; tickets on sale now at www.justbetweengirlfriends.com. JBG hosts fun-filled events year round to benefit charities that assist women and children.
