New End-To-End Framework Helps IT Governance Professionals To Integrate Board, Executive and IT Department Tools and Responsibilities

IT Governance Ltd has launched an end-to-end framework which enables IT governance professionals to organise and communicate the various interlocking facets of IT governance throughout their organisations. This is available free of charge.

London, England (PRWEB) March 15, 2006 -- A new end-to-end framework has been launched to help IT governance professionals organise and communicate the various interlocking facets of IT governance throughout their organisations, from boardroom through to data room. The ‘Calder-Moir IT Governance Framework’ has been launched by IT Governance Limited, the specialist publisher of governance, risk and compliance books, guides and tools, and may be accessed without charge at http://www.itgovernance.co.uk/page.framework.

The IT Governance Framework has been developed in recognition of the fragmented nature of current IT governance practice. The subject is broad and involves multiple disciplines, including information technology, risk management, project management, strategy, intellectual property, business design, project management and compliance. While most of these disciplines offer IT governance solutions and tools, they tend to be highly detailed and narrow in scope.

“Until today, no single tool has provided a full picture of IT governance”, says Alan Calder, CEO of IT Governance Limited. “Collectively, existing tools have often given a confusing impression that actually hinders the purpose of IT governance, which is to equip boards with information and levers for directing, evaluating and monitoring how well IT supports their core businesses. The new IT Governance Framework directly addresses this concern.”

Rather than another tool, the IT Governance Framework is a way of organising IT governance issues and tools to support the board, executives and practitioners. It places governance tools in the context of complete process and provides a simple reference point for discussing many aspects of IT direction and performance.

The IT Governance Framework is based upon Alan Calder’s book ‘IT Governance Today – A Practitioner’s Handbook’, which is available at http://www.itgovernance.co.uk/www.itgovernance.co.uk/products/18. It provides the basis for the forthcoming IT Governance Toolkit, which will provide a comprehensive suite of policies, procedures and task sheets to enable organisations to implement a comprehensive IT governance system that genuinely aligns IT with corporate strategy. The IT Governance Toolkit will be launched in Q2 2006.
