Finally, you can share your All-in-One, Multi-Functions Printer with a Print Server

Edimax’s All-in-one, Multi-functions Print Server, PS-1206MF ($129) allows network users to fully utilize an All-in-One, Multi-functions Printer to Print, Scan, Copy and even Fax (if available.)

Santa Clara, CA (PRWEB) March 16, 2006 -- Edimax Computer, a public listed company on the Taiwan stock exchange, announces that it has been shipping the All-in-One, Multi-functions Print Server, PS-1206MF. As one of only two Taiwan’s real print server manufacturers, we had successful developed and manufactured the first and only USB 2.0 MFP Printer Server that supports the various different brands of All-in-One Printers.

All-in-one is just another name for Multi-functions Printer (MFP.) It started when printer manufacturers added the SCAN function to laser printers almost 10 years ago. The MFP printer as a product type became hugely popular and has become the majority share of PC Printer purchases because of its cost-to-performance and space saving advantages. A MFP Printer can replace a separate scanner, copier, and fax machines, all at one low price.

Print Server is another cost saving PC peripherals, and since most home and SOHO have a networking, the print server permits sharing the printer among all LAN users. Because of the market successes of the MFP printers, many purchaser wish to use a print server with them. But, not until now for almost 10 years, there was no general solution that can be use for all printer manufacturers. Edimax Computer is proud to be the first to provide a USB 2.0 print server that is not manufacturer specific. Here are the typical functions supported:

  • PRINT – just like a traditional print server, users just do a print, and it will come out on the output tray.

  • SCAN – a user connects to the printer with the Edimax print server utility; run the scan program on the PC; go to the printer and perform the scan. The image(s) will be sent to the user’s PC. (The user then “releases” the printer.)

  • COPY – a user connects to the printer with the Edimax print server utility; go to the printer and perform the copy. The copy(ies) will be on the output tray (The user then “releases” the printer.)

  • FAX (if available) - a user connects to the printer with the Edimax print server utility; run a FAX program on the PC; send it to the FAX printer device. The image(s) will be FAXed. (The user then “releases” the printer.)

“The development of the All-in-one Print Server is a major technological milestone that was 10 years overdue. It increases user productivity and cost effectiveness, hence, it is an extremely easy purchase decision.” Said Danny Hwang, the General Manager of Edimax Computer.
