Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) March 15, 2006
The Human Capital Institute (HCI), a global professional association and educator in talent management strategies, announced today that Libby Sartain, Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Chief People Officer for Yahoo! Inc., will speak at HCI's inaugural National Human Capital Summit in Chicago April 6-7.
Day one of the Summit, Sartain presents "Brand From the Inside," a session where she will share the "Eight Essentials to Emotionally Connect Your Employees to Your Business." The session offers a preview of an upcoming book she co-authored with Mark Schumann.
"The key to a business successfully delivering its brand externally is what it does internally to help employees answer the question, 'what's in it for me?,'" said Allan Schweyer, HCI's Executive Director. "Libby Sartain, a true HR visionary, will show organizations how they can break down internal silos to align employees with what the business is all about, and how this alignment can create results in the external marketplace."
Libby Sartain is responsible for leading Yahoo!'s global human resources efforts and managing and developing the human resources team. She also focuses on attracting, retaining, and developing Yahoo!'s employees, who promote and strengthen the company culture as well as represent the powerful Yahoo! brand.
Prior to joining Yahoo! in August 2001, Sartain was Vice President of People for Southwest Airlines. As an employee of Southwest Airlines from 1988 to 2001, Sartain managed a staff of 300 and led all human resources functions at the airline, including employment, training, benefits, and compensation. She also played a key role in developing an employment brand strategy, which helped double employee growth in six years.
Libby Sartain served as chairman of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) in 2001 and was named fellow of the National Academy of Human Resources in 1998. She holds an M.B.A. from the University of North Texas and a B.B.A. from Southern Methodist University.
"Brand From the Inside: Eight Essentials to Emotionally Connect Your Employees to Your Business" by Libby Sartain and Mark Schumann will be released by Jossey-Bass in April.
