Anchorage, AK (PRWEB) March 16, 2006 -- Aspiring writers are making plans to head to Alaska this summer for workshops, readings and performances during a conference organized by the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) in June 2006. The 5th Annual Kachemak Bay Writers Conference is scheduled for June 9-13, 2006 in Homer.
This year’s keynote speaker is Jeffrey Eugenides of Chicago, author of The Virgin Suicides and Middlesex and a 2003 Pulitzer Prize Winner for Fiction.
The Kachemak Bay Writers Conference includes workshops, readings and panel presentations on fiction, poetry, nonfiction and the business of writing. Aspiring writers have the chance to attend daily workshops and to participate in panel presentations, readings, manuscript reviews and open microphone sessions. Evening readings, which are also open to the public, will be complemented with optional dinner and cruise activities and the chance to consult with agents and editors.
The conference is held at Land’s End Resort in Homer, 225 miles south of Anchorage on the southern tip of the Kenai Peninsula. The conference is organized by the Kachemak Bay Campus of Kenai Peninsula Community College, a campus of UAA. Registration is $250 prior to May 10.
