TVI Actors Studio, located in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, turns twenty years old this month.
TVI Actors Studio opened the doors of its New York studio in March 1986, to professional and aspiring actors. Founded on the idea that the actor can take charge of his or her own career, the school prides itself on connecting actors to industry professionals. TVI’s instructors are professionals from major TV networks, film studios, the Broadway theatre and prestigious prominent talent agencies.
Each year TVI extends a hand to thousands of students through its academic outreach program which annually awards thousands of dollars in scholarships. As an educational partner of the Kennedy Center American Theater Festival, TVI presents “TVI Center Enrichment Awards” to several regional and national winners.
TVI Actors Studio provides ongoing and full-time programs attracting students from all over the United States, as well as internationally. Alumni of TVI Actors Studio include film star Mena Suvari, “Saturday Night Live” alum Rachel Dratch, “Desperate Housewives” Eva Longoria, Jeff Foxworthy and Steve Valentine of “Crossing Jordan”.
Alan Nusbaum, founder and chairman of TVI Actors Studio, worked as a talent agent in the New York office of Cunningham, Escott, Dipene for almost a decade prior to launching TVI Actors Studio. During his tenure as an agent, he helped build the careers of many well-known actors including Courtney Cox and Sandra Bullock. Nusbaum keeps a current blog at http://www.actor-preneur.com. The blog promotes the idea of being an “actor-preneur,” a theatrical performer who operates and assumes the risk of a business venture. Nusbaum also travels throughout the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, where he speaks about being an actor-preneur.
TVI Actors Studio is registered with the California Bureau for Private, Post-Secondary and Vocational Education. More information is available at http://www.tvistudios.com
