Pilates Seen As Perfect Exercise Program for Boomers

Once considered a rather arcane form of exercise practiced by only a dedicated few, Pilates has become mainstream, with studios and classes offered all across the country -- from New York City to small towns in Oklahoma. However, many find themselves embarrassed by having to expose bare feet -- a requirement for many classes.

(PRWEB) March 17, 2006 -- The hundred-year-old exercise program called Pilates is experiencing a resurgence, especially among fitness-conscious boomers, as people look for better ways to stay fit, flexible and strong. Once considered a rather arcane form of exercise practiced by only a dedicated few, Pilates has become mainstream, with studios and classes offered all across the country -- from New York City to small towns in Oklahoma.

While Pilates videos are available, in order to learn how to do moves properly, most instructors believe attending a class is definitely preferable. This is especially true for those with some sort of physical disability, whether temporary or permanent, or embarrassment about how they look. Carol J. Buck, CEO of Xenna Corporation (www.xenna.com ), a foot care company, says, "There are so many health benefits that come from the Pilates exercises. It's a perfect exercise for boomer females because it keeps us slim without bulking up, as weight-lifting exercises can, and takes a lot less time than walking."

Getting started is the hardest part, confides Buck. "No one should feel they have to avoid taking an exercise class because they're embarrassed about how they look, or something as minor as exposing their bare feet. Most of us just need to lose a few pounds or address minor cosmetic problems with effective products."

Xenna's NonyX® Nail Gel and CalleX® Dry Heel Ointment are recommended by many podiatrists for women and men with unattractive feet. "For discolored nails, I can personally say that NonyX Gel is the answer. It took six months," says Buck, "but my big toenails now look clear. I'm really proud of the way my feet look and feel. I only wish I were better at Pilates! Nevertheless, having attractive feet helps me feel more graceful doing Pilates, even if my legs aren't perfectly straight (yet)."

NonyX Nail Gel can be purchased in the footcare section of Walgreens, Rite Aid, Longs, Eckerd Pharmacy, Brooks Pharmacy, Duane Reade, and certain Medicine Shoppes and mass retail stores. CVS Pharmacy will carry the product in late April. Online, it can be purchased at www.drugstore.com, www.FootSmart.com and www.xenna.com.

CalleX Ointment is sold in the footcare section of Walgreens, Longs and many Medicine Shoppe pharmacies, and online at www.drugstore.com, www.FootSmart.com and www.xenna.com.

Xenna Corporation is a privately-held company which develops and distributes natural personal care products for skin, hair and nails.
