PRWEB) March 20, 2006 -- How do I cope as my parent is slowly leaving this world? How does it feel to be dying, what do we go through? Are we escorted by special loved ones through the process?

“Returning Home” author Jeffrey Cole guides us through an amazing journey with his father-in-law. He and his wife, Audrey, were given the opportunity to watch the transformation of calm serenity overtake a dying man.

This true story brings great comfort to those of us who live in fear of dying and to those going through the devastating experience of losing someone important in their life.

In this story about a simple and ordinary man who becomes extraordinary, he is able to offer his family a glimpse into the world that lay beyond. It's the story of a man who struggled to come to terms with his life as time was running short. It's the story of his transition. It's the story about a daughter's devotion to her father during his final days on this Earth.

Most of all, it's a story about enlightenment and insight.

“As my father-in-law lay dying in a nursing home bed, he worked tirelessly day and night to resolve his life, to understand his purpose,” Cole writes, “At the same time, he worked to help Audrey and me understand the magnitude of what he was doing and where he was going. Our experiences were profound and life-changing. Our view of the world and our purpose here were forever shifted.”

The purpose of “Returning Home” is to share our story and hopefully bring comfort to anyone faced with saying good-bye to someone close to them, Cole says. ”It is also my hope that comfort will be brought to those facing death and a realization that the world that lies beyond is real, and it's magnificent,” Cole stresses.

The Coles’ received a rare gift of confirmation. A gift that there is a much greater existence than the physical world that we're so comfortable in and familiar with. They have come to understand that we all must find our meaning and purpose, and continually work to become enlightened and evolved.

When Jeff Cole embarked upon sharing this story, he first believed that he had been given a glimpse into the other world because he had been given the gift of writing, working professionally in the field for many years. Now, he believes he was given the ability to write to specifically share this story with others.

Profound experiences do, indeed, happen to ordinary people. We must keep our eyes open and search for the greater meaning in the events around us. We must not dismiss what we don't immediately understand. We must have faith.

Jeffrey Cole began his career as a journalist in 1985, winning awards for his writing and reporting while working for the Chronicle-Tribune (Marion, Indiana) and Florida Today (Melbourne, Florida) newspapers.

He left journalism in 1990 to pursue a career in the public sector, first working in politics and transitioning in 1994 to his current work in communications with a Florida environmental agency.

Returning Home is Jeffrey's first book. He and Audrey live in northeast Florida.
