Santa Cruz, CA (PRWEB) March 18, 2006 -- Girls4Sport team rider and professional bodyboarder Monica Dell’Amore received the “Aloha Award” at the second annual T & C Women’s Pipeline Contest yesterday at Oahu’s North Shore. Dell'Amore, 31, from Dana Point, California, was selected for the award by contest director Betty Depolito. The award honors sportsmanship in the spirit of aloha, which combines amicabilty with a sense of community. “Dell’Amore is always so positive,” said Depolito. “She exhibits great sportsmanship and is encouraging to the other girls.”

Dell’Amore’s optimism and the optimism of the other competitors were certainly tested this year as a result of the weather and poor surf conditions. “We didn’t have the most ideal conditions this year, but the girls did the best they could with what Mother Nature gave them,” said Depolito.

Dell’Amore advanced to the semi-finals despite the less than desirable waves, but fell short of making it to the finals. True to form, she’s already looking forward to next year’s Pipeline Contest.

Dell’Amore, who is originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil, has been bodyboarding for 12 years. She placed ninth last year in the World Championships of Women's Bodyboarding, first in the PAC Coast Pro Tour in 2004, and second in the Body Boarding International Association Tour in 2003. She works as a caterer at the Ritz-Carlton in Dana Point, California.
