Hatches, Matches and Net Despatches

A website is offering distribution of personal announcements and notices, traditionally the domain of newspapers. Inspired by a 13 year old boy, it is seen as the first time the internet has been used for this type of promotion.

Wales, UK (PRWEB) March 19, 2006 -- A website claims to be the first family based notice site suggesting that births, marriages, deaths and almost any event can now be announced to a world wide audience.

As traditional boundaries are removed, TreeofNames.com is pioneering a new era in promoting announcements, offering the web as a fast, inexpensive and effective means of distribution. Already popular for seasonal events such as Christmas and Valentine’s Day the creator has taken it a step further. Nicky John (13), from South Wales, came up with the idea after reading the local newspaper. “To me, it’s just an obvious development and I’m surprised it has not been thought of before”.

The website already features various notices, accompanied by photographs and in some cases link to personal web sites. The tree concept evolved from a Christmas tree and is now a vibrant site covered in “blocks”, each containing individual messages. Commenting at the launch, Nicky explained, “newspapers will always be the first place for announcements but the internet can deliver the message to a wider and larger audience”. With Mother’s Day around the corner, this provides a unique and lasting dedication to Mum’s all around the globe.

To leave an entry costs £1 (less than 2 dollars), although for a short period single blocks are free. Although aimed at the public, business may also add messages at an additional cost. The project supports the Noah’s Ark Appeal as well as education facilities. Being home educated, Nicky built the site whilst studying web design, recently gaining a distinction as a web master. Delighted with the result Nicky hopes it will enable more people to examine the possibilities of a home education.

Many personalities have added their support to the venture. “It is great to see messages from all over the world, but I’m thrilled that many personalities have added theirs”, Nicky said. As for the future of his venture, he has a vision for an unlimited amount of pages which will create “a forest of trees”. He hopes that business will embrace the venture and create a rare platform where the public and commerce are on a level playing field.
