New Redlemon Song “Truly,” from StarSearch Winner Turned Lawyer, Features Beat Poet Kenneth Patchen; Flash Anime Video to Follow

The new song, “Truly,” from Redlemon’s new CD, “Fly (The End of Wars)” features a posthumous reading from beat poet’s Kenneth Patchen’s famous poem, “The Character of Love Seen as a Search for the Lost.” The reading was included by the poet in certain spoken word recordings he released in the 1950s.

Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) March 19, 2006 -- The new song, “Truly,” from Redlemon’s new CD, “Fly (The End of Wars)” features a posthumous reading from beat poet’s Kenneth Patchen’s famous poem, “The Character of Love Seen as a Search for the Lost.” The reading was included by the poet in certain spoken word recordings he released in the 1950s.

Said Rob Sobol, the singer-songwriter behind the Redlemon project, “I've always loved the poetry of Kenneth Patchen. His poetry is visual, moral and very relevant. I also very much identified with his health problems since I had significant congenital health issues growing up. I was thrilled when Folkways Records gave us permission to use the sample. We had done the recording first, hoping to get the rights, but were not sure since they were part of the Smithsonian and we thought there could be some bureaucratic hurdles. However, they, as well as his publisher New Directions, were really supportive and we think the final song turned out fantastic! I hope that Kenneth Patchen will get some renewed attention to his amazing poetry as a result of "Truly/".”

Kenneth Patchen was born in Niles, Ohio in 1911. For much of his life Patchen suffered from a spinal disorder which caused him extreme pain. Patchen espoused pacifism and much of his work opposes war.

Redlemon’s sound is influenced by artists as diverse as Oasis, David Bowie, Elvis Costello, the Beatles, Annie Lennox, Elton John and Baz Luhrmann.

Redlemon also announced that they were working on a groundbreaking flash anime video for the song. “This is the first installment of the story of Redlemon, a survivor in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, who quickly learns the twin lessons of obsession and redemption. We’re now in production and can promise that the video will be very exciting.”

Rob Sobol was formerly the singer-songwriter who led the Philadelphia buzz band “Social Voyeurs” to a win on the national talent competition “StarSearch.” Since then, he has started a family and become a successful securities lawyer. “My roots are in music and prose and it's great to be able to combine the two forms, and add a third, anime, to the mix. The anime will be available for download at the Redlemon website in the next few months. We hope to expand into a graphic novel and even a video game is an option.” Rob intends to start playing select venues in the Philadelphia area in the near future to start to introduce his new music to the listening public.

“Fly (The End of Wars)” and the song “Truly” is now available for sale at TowerRecords.com, CDBaby.com, iTunes and other music services.
