Dog Breeders Angry Over Statements on Website

"Dogs For Sale" website owner gets constant hate mail from dog breeders angry over controversial statements.

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) March 21, 2006 -- Controversial statements about issues related to dog breeding posted on a website called Dogs For Sale have led to a steady stream of hate mail. Michael McCarthy, the owner of the site, says he never thought he would receive so many emphatic e-mails from irate dog breeders just from voicing his opinions on breeding.

"I didn’t really know how popular the site was or if anyone was paying attention until I posted some opinions and starting getting constant e-mails from people,” McCarthy said.

Some of the opinions he posted on his site certainly do seem like they might anger a few breeders. Among those comments were; "selective breeding to perfect a certain breed of dog is no more justifiable than attempting to create a perfect race of human or, that where people generally breed dogs to achieve various characteristics, mother nature only breeds dogs for survival traits."

Michael went on to say, "I do get a lot of e-mails from people that agree with my opinions or what I’m doing, but the extremely emphatic and often hostile e-mails I get from breeders has been surprising. I finally decided to start a dog forum on the site so people could just post their opinions about these various controversial issues and share them with everyone instead of sending me hate mail.

When asked if he had any intention of removing the controversial comments, he remarked; "No. Although it’s nice to get positive feedback, I don’t mind the angry comments at all. My wife has a site called The Pet Store List, which gets occasional threatening e-mails just for a comment on the site that urges people to adopt a cat or dog instead of buying one from a pet store or breeder. You just can’t please everyone, and I’m not trying to. I’m trying to help lessen the number of dogs in shelters."

Michael McCarthy can be reached through the contact information on his website Dogs For Sale. His controversial comments can also be found by clicking a link on the homepage of the site titled "Opinions."
