South Florida will get a taste of a new professional indoor football this spring when the Florida Frenzy join the National Indoor Football League (NIFL) . Sports fans will have another outlet for their football fix with Florida Frenzy operated by general manager Oronde Gadsden, former star Miami Dolphins wide receiver and owned by Howard Leonhardt.

Sports fans will have another outlet for their football fix with Florida Frenzy operated by general manager Oronde Gadsden, former star Miami Dolphins wide receiver and owned by Howard Leonhardt.

“I am excited to bring action packed football to South Florida,” said team owner, Howard Leonhardt.

Florida Frenzy is scheduled to play 7 regular season home game; beginning April 9 facing the Fayetteville Guard.

About the NIFL

The NIFL was launched in 2001 with 18 franchises across the United States. The league has a partnership with the National Football League. The NIFL trains officials through a cooperative with NFL officials and game tapes from the indoor games are mailed to the NFL league office for scouting purposes. Players who either have been cut by NFL teams or weren't given a shot can latch on to NIFL teams to try for a second chance in the NFL. This season the league has grown to 25 teams including several in Florida. There are 14 regular season games, two playoff games and the Indoor Bowl, which the Tri-Cities Fever won last year.
