Father Helps Daughter with Leukemia Start Online Store Dedicated to Supporting Search for Cure

After being diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia at the age of 36, Julie Meryl created a website devoted to raising awareness and funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. All profits earned through the sale of blood cancer awareness products designed by Julie Meryl's father are donated to LLS.

Manahawkin, NJ (PRWEB) March 21, 2006 -- Following a diagnosis of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia at the age of 36, Julie Meryl determined that she would fight back with a website dedicated to helping find a cure. With the assistance of her artistic father, she developed a line of unique products giving support to children and adults with blood cancer and their loved ones. This enables Julie Meryl to raise funds by donating all profits to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Julie Meryl’s website, juliemeryl.com, offers mugs, t-shirts, baseball caps, etc., with supportive phrases not likely found elsewhere. Instead of a serious “find a cure” type of saying, these products say “Bad Blood Club – Devoted to Ending Blood Cancers,” or “Leukemia Sucks.” They are offered to those who have recently been diagnosed, as well as those who have been surviving for years, as a way to gain a sense of empowerment.

“When I was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, I was stunned, angry, depressed, and didn’t know what might become of me. Leukemia – blood cancer. Me? Instead of giving up, I decided to become proactive and help not only myself, but others also diagnosed with blood cancer,” Julie Meryl states. “I’m fortunate to have a father who was happy to lend his creativity to help design products and raise funds.”
