Came across bitbomb the other day - a service to send yourself or others alerts via text. You enter message online and setup a send to a mobile number. Here's another 'free' text from web to a mobile phone service - TextMeFree,which also has directories of other SMS services and bulk pricing for businesses who want to use this as way to push text to customers.
