Bio Balance's New Receptor Model Successfully Prevents Receptor Desensitization

By using this new receptor model, Bio Balance has developed new and exciting technologies to prevent drug desensitization.

New York, NY (PRWEB) March 22, 2006 -- By using this new receptor model, Bio Balance has developed new and exciting technologies to prevent drug desensitization.

Bio Balance's website provides a cutting-edge description of the science behind understanding how our receptors and senses work. The philosophy behind Bio Balance is that accurate descriptions of drug-receptor interactions will lead to the development of better and safer pharmaceuticals. By using this approach, Bio Balance has developed new and exciting technologies to prevent drug desensitization. This will lead to the development of safer drugs with better therapeutic profiles (see http://www.bio-balance.com/DrugAB.html). The major areas of our current focus are heart failure, asthma and Parkinson disease (see http://www.bio-balance.com/Science.htm).

In an important study, with implications for better treatments for heart failure, the technology to prevent receptor desensitization was demonstrated in animal studies. This study also confirmed the observations predicted from our receptor model that desensitization could be reduced or prevented (see: Optimal Agonist/Antagonist Combinations Maintain Receptor Response by Preventing Rapid Beta-1 adrenergic Receptor Desensitization at http://www.bio-balance.com/Ref.htm).

In parallel developments, a molecular model for receptor activation was developed to more accurately understand the biophysical basis for receptor function. Together these new models help us to understand how drugs work at the beta-adrenergic receptors, which are important for heart and lung function. Taken together, this body of work spans the physical, chemical and biological sciences and represents the culmination of almost two decades of work.
