'Middle East Bizarre' Comedy Show to Feature the Top Arab, Muslim, and Iranian Stand-Up Comics

A ground breaking stand up comedy show featuring the top comics of Middle Eastern heritage together for one special show in NYC.

New York, NY (PRWEB) March 23, 2006 -- Confused about what's going on in the Middle East? Can't tell the difference between a Sunni and a Shite? Do all Muslims hate cartoons? What would have happened if Arabs really had taken over our ports? Can Middle Easterners really be funny?

Find out the comedic "answers" to these questions and more as the top comics of Arab, Muslim and Iranian heritage join forces for one groundbreaking comedy show on Thursday, March 23 at 9:00 PM at the NY Improv Comedy Club.

The show, organized by Arab-American comedians Dean Obeidallah, (www.deanofcomedy.com) and Maysoon Zayid (www.maysoon.com), is as much about comedy as it is about dispelling stereotypes and fostering understanding.

"The comics are not only very funny, but hopefully their comedy will also explain to the audience a little more about who we really are," stated co-organizer Dean Obeidallah, a comedian who has appeared on Comedy Central, CNN's "Inside the Middle East," and NPR radio.

"Americans are bombarded daily with negative news stories and images about Arabs and Muslims. Our hope is that this comedy show will present another side to us," added co-organizer Maysoon Zayid, a comic who has appeared on MTV, "One Life to Life," and is the co-founder of the highly acclaimed NY Arab-American Comedy Festival. Comics appearing in the show, in addition to organizers Dean Obeidallah and Maysoon Zayid, include from Los Angeles Maz Jobrani, who has appeared on Comedy Central's "Tough Crowd," CBS' "Late, Late Show," and HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm," Ali Faranakian, a former writer for SNL, Negin Farsad ("Bootleg Islam," Wall Street Journal) and Lena Rizkallah (CNN's "Inside the Middle East").

So don’t miss out on this edgy and unique comedy show.

Tickets for the event are $15 plus a 2 drink minimum and are available by calling the NY Improv Comedy Club at (212) 757-2323.
