Atlassian Software Systems today announced that Atlassian JIRA 3.4 was selected as a Jolt Awards Productivity Winner for the second year in a row in the Defect Tracking, Change, and Configuration Management category.

The awards took place at the SD West Conference at the Santa Clara Convention Center. Twenty Jolt judges whittled down hundreds of entries looking for products that not only demonstrated innovation, quality, and flexibility, but also products that are "ahead of the curve; universally useful; simple, yet rich in functionality; redefine their product space; or solve a nagging problem that has consistently eluded other products."

Scott Farquhar, co-founder of Atlassian, was on-hand to accept the award. Farquhar stated: "Credit for the award can be divided equally between the JIRA development team and our customers – who are always helping us improve the application. Together they’ve helped create a brilliantly simple and feature-rich product that has been well received by users around the world. My thanks goes out to them."

JIRA is an incredibly simple and powerful professional issue tracking software used by over 2,900 organizations in 61 countries. Feature rich yet affordable for any-size organization, JIRA offers an outstanding level of flexibility and extensibility normally reserved for much more expensive systems.

The Software Development Jolt Product Excellence and Productivity Awards have been presented annually to showcase products that have "jolted" the industry with their significance and made the task of creating software faster, easier, and more efficient. Jolt Cola, the fabled soft drink quaffed by software developers for sustenance during project development marathons, sponsors the awards presentation.

JIRA is available in three editions – Professional, Workgroup, and Enterprise. It is free for qualified open source projects and non-profits, and Commercial and Academic users will benefit from straightforward and no-hassle licensing. Commercial users also receive full source code access under a Developer Source License. A free 30-day evaluation of JIRA can be downloaded at http://www.atlassian.com/c/PR/11161/download.
