Katrina Relief Effort: Truck Convoy To Mississippi
From Chester County, PA To Pass Christian, Mississippi
Household Goods Drive/Organized by Exton Region Chamber of Commerce
EXTON, PA (PRWEB) March 24, 2006 -- Imagine a sidewalk where your house once stood. Imagine every book you ever owned, every toy your child ever played with and every photograph of your life, simply washed away. To the people of Pass Christian, Mississippi, this is sadly not a figment of their imagination. It is their reality. And in an effort to soften their pain, the Exton Region Chamber of Commerce and their fellow Chester County Chambers are organizing an extraordinary relief effort.
The Exton Region Chamber of Commerce (as the organizer of this effort), along with sponsors SAM’S CLUB, Wal-Mart, and Belfor USA will be hosting, “From Chester County, PA To Pass Christian, MS”, Katrina Relief Effort. This event will be a household goods drive held on Saturday, April 29, 2006 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Sunday, April 30th, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Exton SAM’S CLUB parking lot (in Main Street At Exton).
The event, open to the public and businesses alike, encourages individuals to contribute “gently-used” or new household items (furniture, linens, appliances, rugs, kitchen items, etc.) and cleaning supplies and bring them to the SAM’S CLUB parking lot (off of Commerce Drive and Indian Run Rd., near Rts. 100 & 30) during designated collection hours. Items too large for individual transport can be arranged to be picked up by calling 610-646-8652 (please ask for Sarah Stewart).
Once loaded, the trucks will head south to one of the most devastated areas in the hurricane region-- Pass Christian, Mississippi. There, they will be greeted by local Salvation Army workers for storage in their Point of Distribution site, and dispersion to needy families and individuals in that area.
