Designed to be an economical one-tool-does-all for general network management, the Validator-NT’s patented method of uploading and downloading information about cable tests and network configuration will help the user gather the necessary information to manage their network easily while documenting changes, upgrades or new configurations.
The Validator-NT’s new functions (further info at http://www.openxtra.co.uk/product.php/102/19/) encompass four areas; certification, identification, configuration and documentation. Certification of cable runs is possible up to 1 Gigabit speed and the user can test for TIA568/570 interconnect problems as well as qualifying lines for VoIP usage and producing and printing cable test schedules and results.
Additional functionality helps the user to identify all types of components on the network together with port service discovery, (POTS, Ethernet, ISDN, Token Ring etc) with advertised speed ratings and DHCP negotiation. The user can now configure links between nodes at Gigabit speed, check IP addresses on netmask, gateway/routers and domain name servers and confirm links between equipment for changes or upgrades, and access DHCP hosts to obtain network information.
Annie Johnson, Business Development Manager for OPENXTRA says “ The new Test-Um Validator NT955 represents the ideal choice of tool for the IT or Network Manager working on a limited budget and seeking a single hand-held tool for installation, making changes and general network troubleshooting. We are delighted to have the opportunity to offer such a high quality, good value tool to our UK and European customers.”
The Validator-NT955 uses the same Plan-Um software as its predecessor Validator-NT950 for creating layouts of offices and cable test schedules, but has the addition of a new Network Tools section which means the user can create a complete network layout for on-site reference showing connections, equipment and cable pathways, a new notes function also means notes may be added to each component of the network for future add, changes and move legacy information.
