Seashell Books aims to raise much-needed money for the Cochlear Implant Fund in South Africa with the publication of inspirational books in conjunction with Lulu http://www.lulu.com, the world’s fastest-growing provider of print-on-demand books.
With quotes collected from various sources and well-known people, AV Todorova, in conjunction with Seashell Books, has compiled a number of books, namely 101 Daily Inspirations, 101 Daily Angel Wisdoms, 101 Daily Buddhist Wisdoms, 101 Daily Christian Wisdoms, 101 Daily Hindu Wisdoms, 101 Daily Jewish Wisdoms, and 101 Daily Muslim Wisdoms. Beautifully illustrated, these books make great gifts, and purchasing these books will contribute towards a good cause.
AV Todorova was four years old when she contracted mumps and gradually lost her hearing thereafter. At age 17, she was pronounced profoundly deaf. She is now a 26-year-old wife and mother. "A cochlear implant would definitely make life easier as I face great challenges everyday due to my sensorineural hearing loss," says AV Todorova. "I have yet to hear my 5-year-old son say, 'I love you, Mummy.'"
AV Todorova compiled these books to help herself and other deaf people in South Africa who are desperately awaiting a cochlear implant operation, which costs in the region of R250 000.00 (approximately US$39 540.50) for one implant. She came to Lulu because she wanted to raise proceeds for the cochlear implant fund and also be in control of the publishing process. She found Lulu’s print-on-demand tools to be fast, easy and, most importantly, free. Thus Seashell Books was born, the name deriving from the seashell-shaped cochlear. These books are available for purchase at http://www.lulu.com/seashellbooks in a marketplace filled with other unique and wonderful surprises.
“The Lulu process allows me to cut out the middle man (i.e. a separate publisher) and get my work published quickly and easily – most importantly at no cost whatsoever,” said AV Todorova. “I also have a children’s book in the pipeline, which will teach children and parents alike about the cochlear implant operation and what to expect from it.”
