Linnea Sinclair, Bantam Spectra's Award-winning Science Fiction/Fantasy Romance Author Nominated for Two RITA Awards
Kick-butt heroines. Science fiction action. Steamy romance. Combine the three and you have an award-winning Linnea Sinclair book.
Naples, Florida (PRWEB) March 27, 2006 -- In the space of three hours on a Friday morning, Naples, FL author Linnea Sinclair learned she was a double finalist in one of the most "sought after awards in romance writing", the RITA. Two of her books were chosen out of 1,000 novels entered in a contest that "reflects the diversity and the best romance fiction published in 2005", according to Nicole Kennedy, Romance Writers of America (RWA) Public Relations Manager. Sinclair, who writes science fiction romance, is a 2006 RITA nominee for Best First Book, "Finders Keepers," and Best Paranormal with "Gabriel's Ghost," both released by Bantam Spectra in 2005.
"I was thrilled with the first phone call telling me that Finders Keepers was a finalist," Sinclair said from her home in Wyndemere Country Club. "When the second phone call came from RWA about Gabriel's Ghost, I was dazed. I had to sit down."
RWA, the largest romance-fiction professional trade association in the world, released its list of the top romance novel finalists on Friday, March 24th. But as is tradition, all finalists received a personal, congratulatory phone call first. The authors will vie for the most coveted award in romance publishing, the RITA, at the National RWA conference this July in Atlanta, Georgia. "I know Best First Book is a hard category with a variety of tough competition in many different romance genres," Sinclair said. She admits she also faces tough competition for Best Paranormal Romance, as she's up against New York Times bestsellers such as Catherine Asaro, Heather Graham and Teresa Medeiros. "It's an honor just to be included," Sinclair added.
Sinclair, a former news reporter and retired private investigator, just recently moved back to Naples after a seven-year absence. "I think Naples may be my good luck charm," she said with a smile. Sinclair also signed a second three-book deal with her publisher, Bantam Spectra, this month.
