Writing is Child’s Play at FaithWriters.com
FaithWriters.com, the premier site for Christian writers, introduces FaithWriters for Kids--a writing site for children between the ages of 7 to 14.
Livonia, MI (PRWEB) March 27, 2006 -- You can lead a child to paper, but you can’t make him write. When compared to video games and favorite television shows, writing and reading all too often take a back seat in the lives of 7 to 14 year olds--that is if they’re given any room at all. But when you spark a child’s imagination and make writing fun, stand back and watch the creativity flow--which is exactly what FaithWriters.com is doing with their brand new writing site, FaithWriters for Kids.
“The idea of starting a writing site specifically for children has been suggested by FaithWriters’ members occasionally in the past,” explained Deborah Porter, Coordinator of the highly popular FaithWriters’ weekly Writing Challenge. “But it really wasn’t until a couple of children ‘sneaked’ entries into the Challenge that the very real need for a place of their own became obvious. The children were both very young, but their stories were delightful and received a huge amount of feedback. Children like these are the faith writers of the future, and what a privilege it is to now be able to provide a way for them to express themselves and help develop their skills.”
Published author and mother of six, Karen Elengikal, has been one of the strongest supporters of the FaithWriters for Kids project, which isn’t surprising when you discover that the two youngest-ever Challenge entrants came from her family. When asked about her enthusiasm for FaithWriters for Kids, Karen said, “The mandate we possess as godly parents is to pass our Christian heritage onto our children. This includes providing avenues for them to express and develop their God-given gifting in the arts. I see the FaithWriters for Kids site as a vital tool in God’s hands, giving an outlet for effective expression of our children’s writing, while prodding and cultivating their enormous imaginations in an environment of Christian love and care.”
Using a simplified version of the successful FaithWriters.com site, FaithWriters for Kids provides children and young teenagers with the ideal place to write and read about the things that matter most to them, as well as a non-competitive weekly writing challenge all of their own.
“The effective results of combining opportunity, inspiration, challenge and encouragement have been shown time and again at FaithWriters.com,” stated Mrs. Porter. “Now it’s time to unleash those same things into the lives of the next generation of Christian writers. Who knows? We may be nurturing a future Ted Dekker, Karen Kingsbury, Jerry B. Jenkins or Francine Rivers ... or perhaps someone who will write just one thing that will touch one other heart for Jesus. What more could we ask?”
