San Diego's North County Warriors on Fast Break to Las Vegas Basketball Tournament

North County Hoops United's Warriors club basketball team is in its final stretch to reach their fundraising goal. The 11 and under Warriors are set to compete in the 26th Annual Mae Fischer Memorial Las Vegas Easter Classic April 12th thru 16th. 3-point and Free-throw competitions are among the upcoming fundraisers.

Escondido, CA (PRWEB) March 28, 2006 -- North County Hoops United's Warriors club basketball team is in its final stretch to reach their fundraising goal. The 11 and under Warriors are set to compete in the 26th Annual Mae Fischer Memorial Las Vegas Easter Classic April 12th through 16th. 3-point and Free-throw competitions are among the upcoming fundraisers.

"Not only do these boys have talent, they have great attitudes, personalities, and grades, too," states Trudi McCullum, North County Hoops United's (NCHU) Coordinator. "They have drive, dedication, and heart. They have been handpicked because they have the complete package, on and off the court. That's why it is our goal as family and parents, to see these boys through on their dream of making it to this tournament." NCHU's Warriors basketball team is comprised of some of the top 11 and under boys in North County San Diego. They are from some of the best leagues in the area, including National Junior Basketball, Palomar Family YMCA, Game Point Basketball, and more. These kids are usually the "All Stars" or top players on their teams. They have a coach with just as much experience and commitment as the team. John Whann, Youth and Adult Sports Director, at the Palomar Family YMCA, has agreed to coach the boys. He participated in club basketball from a young age. He understands what it takes as a player and as a coach to become a quality team.

The players and their parents have come up with great ways to fundraise for their trip. They have participated in car washes, raffle ticket sales, brochure programs, bake sales, and other traditional fundraisers. At the car washes, individuals can compete against the boys in 3-point and free-throw competitions. Prizes are awarded to those who win the competitions.

The next car wash is scheduled for Saturday, April 1st from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Palomar Family YMCA 1050 N. Broadway Escondido, CA. The boys will also be playing in a Game Point tournament that weekend, at the Y. Cars are $5. Vans/Trucks/SUV's are $7. For a small additional charge of $2 for cars and $3 for Vans/Trucks/SUV's, you can have your vehicle vacuumed and tires and dash board treated with Armor-All.

Allen Sportswear of San Diego, CA, has worked diligently on the uniforms for the boys, and also the 12 and under girls team. The girls will travel to Las Vegas, but will not be competing in this year's tournament, but they will participate in other tournaments starting in April. Allen Sportswear will be providing the boys with a full uniform including: jersey, shorts, shooter shirts, break-away pants, and a jacket. All items will have tackle twill lettering and numbering. "We want our teams to look as good as they play, that's why we chose Allen Sportswear. It was also great that they are from our own backyard," says Michelle, Team Coordinator for the Warriors.
