The UCLA Final Four March was Destiny in History, Says 'Basketball and Hip-Hop' Guru Derrick E. Vaughan

George Mason is the "Cinderella" story of the 2006 NCAA Tournament. Their "Big Dance" dreams to the Final Four will be talked about for decades to come. LSU and Florida are big name schools from power conferences so their arrival to Indy isn't a complete surprise. The last of the Final Four dancers is UCLA. The Bruins own more NCAA National Championships (11) than any other program in Division 1 history. They are also one of the 5 winning-est college programs of All-Time.

Kentucky, N. Carolina, and Kansas were eliminated by the second round of this years NCAA Tournament. This was the first time since 1979 that one of the three didn't make it to the Sweet 16. Duke and UCLA were the only "Phat 5" programs left to continue the streak of at-least one of "The Phat 5" making it to the Final Four for 19 consecutive years. Duke was eliminated by LSU in the first game played during the round of 16. This left UCLA as the savior for "The Phat 5" and, their continued record streak. History played itself out and, the Bruins beat Gonzaga coming back from a 17 point deficit to set up an elite 8 matchup with Memphis who was the #1 seed. UCLA used tough defense to upend the Tigers for a trip to Indy for the Final Four. UCLA is the favorite and, will win the 2006 NCAA Championship. The previous streak of 17 straight years for "The Phat 5" was from 1962-78 that was ended in 1979 by Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.

Dunkadelic is the first dunk term applied to the American English dictionary since dunk-shot in 1967. The dunk was banned from college basketball from 1967-76. Indiana in 1976 was the last team to go undefeated in college basketball for an entire season. Since the "dunk" was allowed back into the college game no team has gone undefeated. The NBA/ABA merger of 1976 and, the lift of the dunk ban the same year were instrumental foundation points to the Dunkadelic terminology.

The 3rd Anniversary of Michael Jordans' last NBA game will be April 16, 2006. Allen Iverson wore the "Dunkadelic" shoe for MJ's last game on April 16, 2003 in Philadelphia.
