Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) March 31, 2006
Youth Farm Inc., a residential treatment program for boys ages 12 to 21 with family, school, community and emotional problems, has named Dr. Jim Phillips as its new executive director. Established in 1960, Youth Farm is located on the outskirts of Peoria, Ill., and serves young men from all over the state. Currently, Youth Farm provides treatment for up to approximately 50 boys. Dr. Phillips earned a doctorate from Capella University’s human services online degree program in 2005. Capella is an accredited online university that has helped pioneer online education.
Prior to being named executive director, Dr. Phillips served on Youth Farm’s board of directors and provided mental health insight to the operation of the nonprofit organization.
“The PhD program at Capella was instrumental in providing me with the resources and the research tools I needed, and it met the desire of Youth Farm’s board of directors for us to become a cutting-edge agency,” Dr. Phillips said. “They wanted the PhD credentials to open doors and to provide credibility to our programs and the quality of services we provide our residents. This was particularly important for those agencies who make referrals to us.”
Dr. Phillips has served as a private practice mental health provider in the greater Peoria, Ill., area for the past 20 years as a licensed clinical professional counselor and an ordained minister.
