New York, NY (PRWEB) March 31, 2006 -- Real estate listings in New York have just become ‘open source’ with the launch of mightydigs.com. The website, a listing service and real estate blog, redefines the way properties are promoted by allowing anyone to add information to the listing through comments on the blog.
"When we allow individuals to contribute comments to a listing, it becomes much more attractive to buyers and more accurate overall -- thereby helping everyone involved in the transaction," says Christian Gersberg, publisher of mightydigs.com.
The open source movement has generated much interest, but according to Mr. Gersberg, this is the first time that it has been formally applied to real estate. The site launched on March 16th and has properties listed totaling over $90 million in potential sales.
While the listings on mightydigs.com can be edited by anyone, it can only be done through comments and the original listing is kept intact. This is done so that potential buyers can get the most out of the listing by learning the characteristics of the property from the broker as well as comments by those who have a connection with the property.
Brokers and sellers are invited to submit listings. Listings submitted before April 17th will be posted free of charge on mightydigs.com.
“Our goal is to create an open environment for real estate listings and to help buyers, sellers, and brokers," said Mr. Gersberg. "At mightydigs.com, we are creating a new system that is unique and will be extremely effective."
