SAN MATEO, CA (PRWEB) March 30, 2006
When it comes to hotel recommendations, travelers are much more likely to trust a friend than any other source, according to recent survey sponsored by TravelPost.com (http://www.travelpost.com). The independent survey of more than 1,000 Americans over 18 across the country was conducted in March 2006, by Opinion Research.
Half (50 percent) of all survey participants said they would be most comfortable taking hotel advice from a friend, while only 17 percent said parents were their most trusted source, and 14 percent stated they would be most comfortable taking a hotel recommendation from a travel agent. Travel guidebooks and co-workers were both chosen by seven percent of the survey participants.
”Travelers are most comfortable taking advice from people like them, so it’s only natural that people trust their friends the most for hotel recommendations,” said Sam Shank, CEO of TravelPost.com, the premier source for personalized hotel ratings and travel advisory services. “That’s why our unique hotel reviews filtering feature, which allows travelers to narrow down reviews so that they get only those written by people with their gender, in their same age range, and traveling for the same reasons on the same budget, is so popular. Whether travelers are going to San Francisco, Las Vegas, or Boston, it gives peace of mind that the recommendations are more relevant, and helps travelers to make more informed travel decisions.”
