New Baby Nanny Software Helps Parents Decipher Infant Needs

Developed by a pediatrician, new software tracks baby's schedule and helps mom cope.

The Baby NannyTM is a new software that allows parents to establish a routine that fits their child's natural schedule, resulting in happier babies and less overwhelmed parents.

"Parents use The Baby NannyTM software to track their newborn's sleeping, eating and fussing to better understand and establish a customized routine unique to their infant's personality," says The Baby NannyTM owner Kim Appelt, who developed the software with husband Dr. Greg Appelt. "Having a baby is a life changing and often daunting experience. Babies have a natural rhythm and creating a tailored schedule for your baby reduces stress for everyone," adds Appelt, also a new mother with a premature baby.

The Baby NannyTM software tracks everything from diaper changes and naptimes, to mealtimes and fussiness. It allows parents to know their baby faster and better, improve their baby's sleep, assist mothers with breastfeeding challenges and help parents with premature, colicky or twins. Appelt, seeking a schedule for her own baby, was inspired by the international bestselling "Secrets of the Baby Whisperer: How to Calm, Connect and communication with Your Baby" by Tracy Hogg.

With more than 4 million births last year in the United States, a successfully established schedule in the early weeks helps to reduce the feelings associated with "baby blues", a mild form of depression experienced between 50% - 80% of new mothers, as well as the more serious post-partum depression.

“I was frustrated with using scraps of paper to keep track of our new baby’s activity schedule,” continues Appelt. “This new software is perfect for a new generation of computer savvy parents and the answer to my own dilemma.”

The Baby NannyTM was released in October 2005 after nearly a year of development and testing. It is sold via the Internet ( and stores in the United States for $21.95.
