Controversial new government legislation is set to kill off one the longest standing British traditions and is causing outcry from hoteliers across the UK. Moves to ban the use of aliases when checking in to hotels will see the demise of the 'dirty weekend' as it is popularly known and is forcing the hotel industry to adapt swiftly to counter the effect of the proposed changes.

From next April, guests will no longer be legally allowed to use an alias when signing into a hotel. There is also concern being voiced by the management teams of celebrities who wish to ensure anonymity. Hotels are also being asked to redesign interiors that clearly cater for lewd and illicit acts. These sweeping changes include the de-postering of four-poster beds, the removal of ‘weekend kits’ and ceiling mirrors and the weakening of chandeliers to prevent people swinging from them.
