Grandmother, Daughter, and Granddaughter Team Make Difference in the Black Community

Spreading words of wisdom with a multi-generational twist, popular trio, Pearls of Wisdom from Three Generations, offer encouragement, advice, and inspiration to thousands of women and girls. They make the difference with an award-winning collection, a weekly advice column, and speaking engagements throughout the eastern seaboard.

Washington D.C. (PRWEB) April 2, 2006 -- Hailed as “Elder Grace to Youthful Face”, grandmother Celia Ford, daughter Theresa Allen, and granddaughter Pamela Simonson are different and unique. Their compelling theme has been seen as a stroke of genius and often revolutionary, with fans admitting they wish their own family had thought to do something like the Pearls of Wisdom from Three Generations. Ford, Allen, and Simonson bridge generation gaps in African American families, with a book of the same name, a weekly advice column, Ask Pearls of Wisdom, a collection of pearl prayers, and a wide variety of speaking engagements.

The New York natives did not plan any of this when they sat in Ford’s kitchen a few years ago. It was then that Simonson realized they were 75, 50, and 25 years old, an event rare in any family. To celebrate, the grandmother, daughter, and granddaughter knew they had to do something other than getting their nails done or going to the Olive Garden. So, they wrote a poem, which served as the catalyst to compiling family sayings, famous quotes, and original prayers into a book, Pearls of Wisdom From Three Generations (Thelemaque Publishing). Since then, their calendar is booked with speaking engagements, author book signings, and answering the advice letters from readers. They answer the same question from three different perspectives. The elder Ford, now 78, sees this all as a new lease on life.

“It was a moment in time that would never happen again and has stretched out into doing things for others,” stated elder Ford, a retired Registered Nurse and Health Teacher. Ford admits the trio now stays busy almost every weekend. When one cannot attend, the other two generations make the event.

“Some people say our journey was destined to happen”, said Simonson, a soprano with the Washington National Opera and Director of Music at a Prince George's, Maryland elementary school. Allen echoed her daughter’s comments and added,

“We knew something special would happen after we wrote a poem, but had no inkling of how many thousands of people we would touch in such a meaningful way.” Allen serves as the Vice President of a local a talent management company in Maryland.

The three generations agreed the journey begun three years ago has now been proven to be “bigger than themselves”.

“I recently had an epiphany, “ said Ford.

“Now I know our purpose is to touch and move people in a profound and spiritual way... from three generations."

Mother’s Day is a special season for the three women. Their encouraging journey continues to uplift, motivate, and heal -- touching and moving thousands. To have the Pearls come to your city or include their advice column in a weekly newspaper, access their website.
