Young Filmmaker Earns DVD Distribution for First Feature-Length Film, “Judges”

At only 28 years old, writer/director Stephen Patrick Walker has secured DVD distribution for his 35mm film, "Judges", and now plans for the sequel in 2007.

Virginia Beach, VA (PRWEB) April 3, 2006 -- Stephen Patrick Walker, 28, has earned distribution for “Judges,” his first 35mm feature-length film. The DVD hits the streets April 4, 2006. “Judges” was primarily filmed in Virginia, but Walker and the distributor, Anthem Pictures, are making plans to shoot the sequel “back home” in the Louisiana Mid-2007.

“Judges” is a modern-day Spaghetti Western, often paying homage to such legendary directors as Sergio Leone (“The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly”) and Sam Peckinpah (“The Wild Bunch”). The plot of the movie features a group of vigilante protectors known as the Judges, sent to rid a corrupt town of evil rule. The film boasts an independent, rugged feel, maximizing budget dollars by using locations owned by friends, local/regional actors and a flexible crew. Most of the crew members attended Regent University’s film school in Virginia with Walker, who received his degree in 2003 from the graduate school.

Writer/Director Stephen Patrick Walker set a personal goal that by the age of 26 he would have his first 35mm feature-length film in the can. “The day I finished the final sound mix and locked picture was the day before my 27th birthday, so I just made it.” Walker shot “Judges” on 35mm but decided for his first film to go straight-to-video in post-production. “We knew a film print would increase the budget past our limit, so we transferred to digital video tape and we edited and sound mixed the whole film on an Apple PowerMac G5, keeping costs low and the quality of the film in tact.”

“Judges” is full of unique characters and sarcastic one-liners that is sure to make the film a cult classic. Special Features included on the DVD are directors commentary, 3 behind-the-scenes featurettes, and 3 comic books that act as a prequel for the hero, the villain, and the off-beat comedic character, The Afrodeeshiac.
