LogiGear Expands Software Testing Center in Vietnam

LogiGear Test & Research Center will support continued rapid expansion of LogiGear's independent software testing services, with an emphasis on global test automation solutions.

LogiGear today announced that it has expanded its software testing center in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. As the first an only software testing center in Vietnam, LogiGear Test & Research Center is led by industry-renowned software testing executives and will support the continued rapid expansion of LogiGear’s independent software testing services. The offshore center currently has a staff of 80 engineers, and is expected to double in size by the end of 2006, driven by demand from both new and existing customers.

“Software testing in Vietnam provides a key strategic advantage for LogiGear and for our customers,” said Hung Nguyen, LogiGear’s CEO, President & founder. “Labor costs in Vietnam are generally lower and are not growing as rapidly as in India or China. Furthermore, since the IT industry in Vietnam is just beginning to emerge, LogiGear is able to recruit the best talent in the country, including many foreign-trained engineers. All of this boils down to a huge advantage to our customers: They gain access to better talent at lower costs than any other vendor can provide, and can be confident that they will not see the skyrocketed per annum cost increases nor outrageous turnover rates that companies outsourcing to India or China are facing.”

Vietnam has long been a popular destination for offshore manufacturing, with many large American and European manufacturers establishing operations. The recent announcement by Intel Corporation of plans for a $600 million investment in a hardware assembly facility highlights the growing confidence in Vietnam as a center for technology as well. Vietnam’s recent history has been highlighted by a very stable, pro-business government, steady economic growth, and rapid growth in the rate of foreign investment.

Despite widespread outsourcing of software testing (annual world-wide spending on outsourced software testing is estimated at $6 billion), many companies are finding it difficult to find high quality offshore software testing services. “We surveyed our clients, prospects, and contacts, and learned that most of them were dissatisfied with offshore software testing services from larger vendors who are primarily focused on software development,” said Nguyen. “These vendors simply don’t have enough expertise in software testing, nor do they assign their best talent to software testing. LogiGear is strictly focused on software testing. We are recruiting the best talent available and providing them with the same world-class QA training that we deliver to our customers.”

Nguyen also emphasized that looking beyond the larger outsourcing centers is critical for small to mid-size enterprise (SMEs). “Companies with annual revenue in the range of $10 to $100 million dollars must leverage offshore to remain competitive, but they don’t have the capacity to set up their own captive centers, nor do they spend enough to get great service from larger outsourcing vendors,” said Nguyen. “When considering vendors, these companies need to look not only at the cost per headcount, but also the level of service they can expect. Larger vendors just aren’t going to give their smaller clients as much attention as they deserve; it’s a fact of life in this business. LogiGear is specifically catering to outsource testing needs demanded by these SMEs so they can enjoy a higher service level, and know that their account matters.”

LogiGear intends to continue offering its independent software testing services as a combined onshore/offshore model, with onshore account and project management, and offshore test management, development, automation and execution. “Our goal is to make the offshore software testing process as seamless as possible for our customers,” said Nguyen, “and based on the feedback from our existing customers, we have been tremendously successful in this initiative.”
