2006 UCI World Top Mountain Biking Stands Out at Dolphin Academy Curacao

Top-class athletes visited the Curacao Dolphin Academy this Sunday April 2, 2006, for a well-deserved Dolphin swim program.

(PRWEB) April 4, 2006 -- For the ultimate relaxation after the April 1, 2006, UCI Worldcup Mountain Bike Race, on Caribbean island Curaçao, one of five islands of the Netherlands Antilles, the top-class athletes visited the Curacao Dolphin Academy this Sunday April 2, 2006, for a well-deserved Dolphin swim program. First to go in the water was winner Bart Brentjes, later followed by the total Giant team. It was the second time for Brentjes but that didn’t make the experience less impressive for him: “I almost wouldn’t know what is more beautiful, the Worldcup or swimming with dolphins!” Brentjes and the other members of the Giant team; Roel Paulissen, Stefan Sahm, Oliver Beckingsale and Martin Kraler, also became official friends of the Doc Dolphin Fund, a foundation which supports families in making Dolphin Assisted Therapy attainable for their child.

Current world champion and number 2 of this UCI Worldcup race; Julien Absalon, swam with dolphins Copan and Teresa, together with Thomas Frischknecht and Peter van den Abeele; head of the UCI Commission Mountain biking. Later in the afternoon it was Filip Meirhaeghe’s turn, who is making his comeback in the cycling world this season. In spite of tired legs the athletes enjoyed the programs a lot, or as said in Flemish: “Totally the Max!” Perhaps the athletes got some extra inspiration but it is certain that this season had a very special start!
