New Moderated Health Article Directory Joins The Fight Against Article Spam

Share Article

Article spam has created an increasing problem for publishers in both wasted time and the potential damage to their reputation should they publish a good article linking to a bad website. Poor topic categorization in general reprint directories only adds to this.

The launch of the human moderated Article Health and Fitness Directory addresses the problem faced by ezine editors looking for relevant, quality content in the health field.

The popularity of article writing to gain backlinks has created a situation where authors are submitting articles at an unprecedented rate. Glenn Murray, of, writes that Mel Strocen, the owner of GoArticles, has seen their submissions rise from 1000 per week to over 2000.

Within this proliferation of content however, poor quality abounds. Articles created by membership sites sold to hundreds of individuals with the right to attach their name to them means the same article is submitted with only minor changes, or simply a change in title. Even original articles that the author has the sole copyright to are submitted under different headings multiple times.

These spam articles don't pass through human moderation. But they are easily published in the auto generated directories that have become popular in some sections of the web community.

To date, there are over 750 directories accepting reprint articles. A significant portion of these are auto generated, often with the same stock of articles used to create them. Of the remaining human moderated directories, very few of these are niche health directories.

A feature of general directories is often poor categorization of subjects. Publishers are left with the time consuming and frustrating process of sorting through the noise to find content relevant both to their subject, and the needs of their audience.

When assessing an article for inclusion on your website or in your ezine:

  • Always check the link in the article
  • Don't publish articles linking to spammy, thin affiliate or unprofessional looking sites
  • Spell check the article - surprisingly, the author may not have
  • Be wary of directories that do not have a moderator or require a login to submit articles
  • Be wary of health articles promising 'cures'

The Article Health and Fitness reprint directory was designed to take some of the burden of time off online publishers. A total of 197 dedicated health, fitness, and beauty categories make it easy to find on topic articles quickly. All articles are subject to an approval process first. Off topic, 'salesy' articles, and those linking to thin affiliate and spammy sites, are not accepted.
