Women in Hardware Industry Group Announces May Events
A group of women in the home improvement industry will be meeting at the National Hardware Show in Las Vegas.
Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) April 6, 2006 -- The Women in the Hardware Industry (WIHI) association is planning several activities for women in the home improvement industry attending the National Hardware Show in Las Vegas May 9-11, 2006.
Pam Melton, president of Women in the Hardware Industry and senior product manager of painting systems for the Mount Juliet, Tenn-based Campbell Hausfeld Powered Products, said, the National Hardware Show serves as an important venue for many WIHI members. “It is the one event that is attended by so many women in the industry that prospective members can see how beneficial it is to listen, learn and share with a group of their peers,” Melton said.
Dianne Miller Hamilton, of the New Mexico State House of Representatives, will address the group at the WIHI Motivational Luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 10. The luncheon is free for WIHI members and $10 for non-members. “I have known Dianne for many years and find her to be a truly inspirational person,” Melton said. “She is going to speak on the art of persuasion.”
On May 10, WIHI will host a membership drive and cocktail party from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. On May 11, snacks and beverages will be available for WIHI members during the close of the show. The WIHI Member Luncheon and Business meeting takes place on May 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This event is for members only. All WIHI events during the National Hardware Show will take place in room N218 in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. WIHI will also have a lounge available for use by its membership for the duration of the show.
Women in the Hardware Industry membership is $90 per year. The organization hosts events at home improvement industry trade shows and also spearheads networking and professional development opportunities. Under Melton’s leadership, the organization has grown by more than 50 percent over the last 12 months. Current sponsors include Home Channel News, The National Hardware Show/Reed Exhibitions, ImageWords Publicity & Writing Services and Kimberly Clark's DIY Business.
