The 2006 Small Biz Games Presented by Overstock.com® Bulk Buys & Business Supplies has announced the first of its kind live $10,000 Fast Start Small Business Challenge. 15 micro small business and home based business owners will compete in this unique live event at the 2006 Small Biz Games Micro Small Business/Home Based Business Expo and Awards Banquet, May 21 – 23 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Selected micro small business and home based business contestants will be divided into three teams of five and given a $500 credit to purchase products from Overstock.com’s Bulk Buys & Business Supplies.

The 2006 Small Biz Games Presented by Overstock.com® Bulk Buys & Business Supplies has announced the first of its kind live $10,000 Fast Start Small Business Challenge. 15 micro small business and home based business owners will compete in this unique live event at the 2006 Small Biz Games Micro Small Business/Home Based Business Expo and Awards Banquet, May 21 – 23 at the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Selected micro small business and home based business contestants will be divided into three teams of five and given a $500 credit to purchase products from Overstock.com’s Bulk Buys & Business Supplies. The teams will have an opportunity to select products they believe will sell the best to attendees at the 2006 Small Biz Games Micro Small Business/Home Based Business Expo. The three teams will have 48 hours to market and sell their products. The team with the most sales at the end of the event will be declared the winner and receive a $10,000 cash prize, $2000 for each first place team member.

To participate in the $10,000 Fast Start Small Business Challenge, micro small business owners and home based business owners must submit an essay between 1000 and 1500 words on “Why I Love Being an Entrepreneur.” Patrick Byrne, President of Overstock.com will judge the essays. Essays must be submitted prior to April 21, 2006 at http://smallbizgames.com/faststartchallenge.htm. The fifteen contestants chosen to compete will be announced nationally, April 30, 2006.

“I will judge essays based on sincerity, a thoughtful, well-articulated message, and a strong sense of the quality of the entrepreneur’s character,” said Patrick Byrne, president of Overstock.com. “For those who make the cut, winning the Challenge will require teamwork, smart product choices, superb salesmanship, and dogged determination. It should be a fascinating event, and I encourage small business owners looking to test their skills to enter.”
