Personal assistants and domestic workers should take the advice of a new must-have T-shirt: "Naomi Campbell slapped me - and I slapped the b$#*h back!" The shirt also comes in a "PG" version which reads "and I slapped Naomi back!"
The tees were designed by New York-based fashion designer-to-the-stars (i.e. Madonna, Jennifer Lopez and Reese Witherspoon) Malcolm Harris of Mal Sirrah, Inc..
"It's a little funny for me, because I'm part Jamaican as well, and I am very familiar with the Jamaican temper - sadly this is what can happen if it is not curtailed," Harris said.
"However, as an African-American fashion designer, this is a woman that a great deal of people look up to, and for her to behave like this is simply unacceptable. This is my little way of saying, 'Naomi, please get help!"
The FIT and NYU graduate initially came out with the shirt during Fashion Week in September 2005, to counter a T-shirt that Campbell was spied wearing. Campbell's T-shirt of choice by Chip and Pepper reads "Naomi hit me . . ." on the front, and the words ". . . and I liked it" on the back. Harris feels that this perhaps is not the sentiment of the masses. Despite Naomi's latest "incident" and Mr. Harriss' re-issue of the now infamous t-shirt, he says he still adores Naomi as a runway model, just not as a role-model.
Harris's Mal Sirrah fashion line consists of very expensive couture gowns and luxurious garments that are seen on some of the most well known women in the world. Fortunately, the Campbell tee is only $35 with the more expensive rhinestone-studded version costing $150. A portion of the proceeds go to the National Center for Cancer Research.
