Reality TV: An Alternative To Actors From Explore Talent

Actors who are struggling to make significant progress in their careers are turning to reality TV to gain exposure for themselves.

Hollywood (PRWEB) April 10, 2006 -- Actors who are struggling to make significant progress in their careers are turning to reality TV to gain exposure for themselves.

Winners and losers both have gone on to post-reality show success because of their experience with this new TV phenomenon and the contacts they’ve made.

Each reality show has different application processes to get started. Some shows like Survivor www.cbs.com might want you to send in a video tape of yourself before they even begin the interviews. Others might want you to go through a casting agent. Still others like The Apprentice www.nbc.com will just have you attend an open casting call to determine if you’re right for the show.

Some shows will even ask auditioners personal questions in order to uncover facts about them a video tape might not reveal. These questions could be embarrassing things that have happened to the person or even political beliefs—subjects most people don’t feel comfortable talking with to complete strangers.

For those that don’t mind disclosing a few things about themselves, reality TV can prove to be a career boost. Some contestants, like a few from the Big Brother show which airs on CBS, have been invited to appear on such things like sitcoms after their reality TV careers have ended.

Casting calls for these shows have hopefuls standing in line for hours but some are willing to put up with the long waits and tireless interviews for a chance to be seen in front of millions or meet the right people to jumpstart their acting careers.
