DETROIT (PRWEB) April 12, 2006 -- Comerica has secured the anchor position on the 2nd Annual Robert S. Shumake Scholarship Relays Dream Team. The 2nd Annual Robert S. Shumake Relay Races will be held on April 29, 2006 at the Martin Luther King High School at 3200 East Lafayette Street, Detroit, MI at 8AM. Sanctioned by the U.S. Track and Field Association, it will host a bevy of Mid-West High School students competing for individual and team trophies and college scholarships.

Comerica, a multi-faceted corporation with an abiding sense of community involvement, realizes that their businesses can only succeed if the markets/communities that they serve are economically healthy and viable. From investors’ relations to career opportunities, Comerica has proven that they are dedicated to improving the communities where their investors live and work. They are constantly seeking opportunities where they can effectively and efficiently reach out to the Greater Detroit area and fund worthwhile neighborhood programs beneficial to the communities that they serve.

Running the lead off leg on this relay team is Robert S. Shumake, a former Edwin Denby High School competitor and all-city track and field athlete. The Detroit businessman and founder of the Inheritance Investment Group, a Detroit real estate investment service firm, is the inspiration behind this unique and novel track meet. Running the second leg of the relay is the Freedom Institute. Through Freedom Weekend V, Reverend Wendell Anthony, Founder of Freedom Institute and MaryAnn Lee, Executive Director of Freedom Institute, have worked diligently, bringing local and national recognition to the Relays for its uniqueness of offering college scholarships to deserving Mid-West student athletes. Tiffany Douglas, Executive Director of the UNCF-Detroit Branch, runs up the third leg. Ms. Douglas and her staff administer the college scholarships given by the Robert S. Shumake Family Foundation to deserving and worthy high school students/athletes. Running the anchor leg position on the Dream Team is Comerica, which has committed its vast resources to expanding the Relays in its quest for providing college scholarships for the students/athletes from all across the Mid-West.
