After more than 20 years of entertaining throngs of devoted worshipers around the world as the lead singer of New Edition and then after a stint of relative solo radio silence, Ralph Tresvant has reemerged with a new look and sound that is currently captivating huge audiences on radio and at club venues around the land as he promotes his new solo album “RizzWaFaire”, by throwing multiple Record Release parties to near capacity crowds in selected cities across the country. If there was ever any doubt whether R&B was back to Stay or who the new reigning king of R&B is, those questions are quickly put to rest when Ralph Tresvant makes his appearances in front of his multi-generational fans.
Tickets were at a premium April 7th, 2006 when Ralph personally appeared at one of his record release parties at Kimball’s Carnival in Oakland, Ca. The event was sponsored by 102.9 KBLX Radio of San Francisco for a near record setting crowd that welcomed Tresvant with open ears, Open arms and open hearts. During the Record Release party, he shocked the assemblage when he triumphantly overtook the stage and sang a series of a capella New Edition hits Ranging from “Candy Girl” to “Can you Stand the Rain”. When the music began again, he performed his own solo smash hit “Sensitivity” and then wowed them once more with his Newest R&B smash hit “My HomeGirl” from his new album, “RizzWaFaire” available in stores now.
In a scene reminiscent of the long gone days of Beatlemania, A fevered crush of female fans many rows deep, clung against the front of the stage screaming, crying, singing and trembling uncontrollably as he tirelessly belted out hit after hit with his amazing signature vocals and uncompromising style. They continued to watch in absolute awe as the stone cold gentleman continuously danced near weightlessly and effortlessly end-to-end across the stage. Before and after performing, Ralph was spotted connecting with fans as he sat assiduously through hundreds of hugs, pictures and autographs for his adoring fans. Many of whom were stunned by his class and elegance in doting so graciously on them in this day and age of seemingly untouchable celebrity. “Ralph Tresvant is still one of the most humble and generous people to ever have graced the stage” quipped one of the many devoted fans as they waited expectantly in a seemingly endless line that paraded through the VIP section of the club just to get a glimpse of, and touch the living legend that is Ralph Tresvant.
Tresvant will be embarking on a 10 City New Edition tour beginning April 28th. Ralph will then embark on his own tour tentatively, featuring Ralph Tresvant , Johnny Gill, Ginuwine & Tony Toni Tone, entitled the Stone Cold Gentlemen Tour. New Edition, collectively and individually, have sold over 40 million records to date, and these long-time friends are poised to start racking up some new numbers.
