Nature Publishing Group (NPG) and the Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences (SIBS) today announce the appointment of Dr Dangsheng Li as the new Deputy-Editor-in-Chief for China’s premier life science journal, Cell Research (CR).

(PRWEB) April 13, 2006 -- Nature Publishing Group (NPG) and the Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences (SIBS) today announce the appointment of Dr. Dangsheng Li as the new Deputy-Editor-in-Chief for China’s premier life science journal, Cell Research (CR).

Editor-in-Chief of CR and President of SIBS Professor Gang Pei said "We are delighted to be able to appoint someone with Dangsheng's broad expertise in life sciences, and his past experience as an editor for a top biology journal.”

Dr Li received his PhD (in Molecular Biology) from Cornell University Graduate School of Medical Sciences. After extensive postdoctoral training at New York University Medical Center, he joined Cell Press in 2004 to serve as an Associate Editor for the journal Cell.

“Dangsheng shares our goals of developing and growing Cell Research and we are confident he will bring a new and exciting dimension to the journal,” Prof Pei said.

Dr Li will take charge of the scientific editing operations of CR and will work closely with the academic Editors of the journal and members of the Editorial Board as well as NPG.

Tokyo-based NPG Publishing Director David Swinbanks said "Dangsheng’s appointment to the Cell Research team will be invaluable in our mission of raising Cell Research to the highest international standards”

“This investment in a top-notch editor will lead to further improvements in quality, will enhance the international reputation of China’s best life science journal, and is consistent with the Nature Publishing Group’s ongoing focus on editorial development and quality"

Cell Research, which publishes exclusively in English, is China's leading journal in the ISI category Cell Biology with an Impact Factor of 1.936*. Cell Research recently joined NPG’s stable of highly respected journals in Molecular Cell Biology, which include Nature Cell Biology, Nature Reviews Molecular Cell Biology and Cell Death & Differentiation.
