SpamSift uses the standard POP3 e-mail protocol to access your mailbox, scanning for new messages. New messages are scanned and scored by SpamSift. The higher the score, the more likely a particular e-mail is spam. Messages that exceed a predefined score can be automatically tagged or discarded based on the user’s settings. Premium features include the ability to detect viruses and other types of malicious content.
SpamSift offers both a free service for the casual users and a subscription based service for those who receive high volumes of mail. Paid subscriptions can configure the SpamSift system to scan their mailboxes up to every 5 minutes for new spam, viruses, and other types of unwanted e-mail. The free service is very suitable for the average consumer, with hourly scans of up to 150 messages per month.
Premium subscriptions start at $4.95 per month and allow scanning of up to two different e-mail addresses. Scanning services for additional mailboxes can be added to your account for an additional $4.95 per month for each e-mail address.
