London, UK, (PRWEB) April 18, 2006
Blue Planet Spirits, the UK importer and distributor of authentic alcoholic beverages from around the world, today re-emphasised the genuine Russian credentials of Dovgan Vodka as many other brands in the market are currently making very public, sweeping and unsubstantiated statements about their Russian-ness and popularity in Russia.
“In our opinion, for a vodka to be labelled as ‘genuine Russian vodka’ it should be made using an authentic Russian recipe; made in Russia; and be a popular brand that is drunk by Russians,” comments Matthew Barnett, CEO of Blue Planet Spirits. “There are many brands out there that have one of these three credentials in place and are calling themselves Russian but they cannot substaniate this claim in the way that Dovgan can.”
Dovgan’s Genuine Russian Credentials
1. Authentic Russian recipe
The Dovgan recipe was first developed in Russia way back in 1885 and production started at the Buturlinovsky Distillery in 1901. The ingredients that make the Admiral recipe unique are a secret but we can tell you that Dovgan is triple distilled and charcoal filtered as are many other vodkas - but Buturlinovsky goes much further and uses special silver membrane filters and a unique sand column purification process to create an incredibly smooth and pure end product.
2. Made in Russia
Unlike other producers who generally buy in base spirits from ex-Government owned producers and are supplied other ingredients from multiple sources, Dovgan has true control of the end-to-end production process in Russia.
Dovgan's producers own the fields in the ‘Black Earth’ Voronezh region of Russia that is renowned for high-quality grain and they own refinery where they make the base spirit which means that the highest standards can be applied to the whole production process.
Dovgan’s producers also own the Distillery Buturlinovsky where water is drawn from a natural spring well beneath it and then processed to remove any trace elements that could affect the final product. This process is carefully conducted so that the water fully retains the character and minerals of the well water before being blended with the high quality base spirit. This water is known as 'Live' water in Russia and has a softness which retains natural therapeutic properties unlike vodkas made in the west which use distilled 'dead' water.
With such control over the production process, Dovgan guarantees its own quality and can truly be referred to as a 'single estate' genuine Russian vodka.
3. Popular Russian brand
Out of the hundreds of native Russian vodka brands available, Dovgan has won gold medals in 2004 and 2005 and been described as one of the best vodkas available in the Rough Guide to Moscow. Russians drink literally millions of bottles of Dovgan per year with sales in excess of one million cases per year across the Russian Federation.
The Dovgan that is available in the UK through Blue Planet Spirits is the exact same product that is loved and enjoyed across the whole of the Russian Federation as Dovgan is only produced at a the Buturlinovsky Distillery for distribution worldwide.
