Larry Chase, Internet Marketing Expert, Releases Email Newsletter Best Practices

Internet publisher celebrates 11th anniversary of “Web Digest For Marketers” by Revealing 12 Insider Tactics.

New York, NY (PRWEB) April 17, 2006 -- Larry Chase, Internet marketing expert, speaker, and best-selling author has just released his Best Practices for Email Newsletters. Chase published these 12 tactics to mark the 11th anniversary of his own email newsletter, Web Digest For Marketers (http://wdfm.com).

“My newsletter has been covering the Internet Marketing industry for longer than any other email newsletter,” observed Chase. “From my 11 years of experience with this e-mail newsletter, I’m here to say that publishing your own email newsletter is the most effective way to invest your online media dollars.”

Below are 4 of the 12 insider tactics that comprise Mr. Chase’s Best Practices for Email Newsletters.

Tactic #1 – Develop a Subscriber Acquisition Strategy: People unsubscribe from email newsletters, change jobs and email addresses frequently. So unless you have a plan for getting new subscribers, you'll find the size of your list shrinking before too long. The average churn rate nowadays can easily be higher than 30%.

Tactic #2 – Pay Attention to Reputation: It's imperative you protect your domain name’s reputation, else your newsletter winds up in the bulk or junk folder. Publish your SPF records and look into a reputation management service. These steps are quite likely to increase your email deliverability, open rates, and clickthrough rates.

Tactic #3 – Subject Lines Are Critical: Everyone is trying to get their inboxes down to whatever magic number makes them comfortable. Your subject line needs to stop the reader from the repetitive motion of hitting that delete key. Keep your subject lines short and compelling. ‘How To’ subject lines often work brilliantly because so many people use the Internet to learn how to do things.

Tactic #4 – Co-Registration Partners: In some cases, it makes sense for you to have arrangements with other newsletters that offer a subscription to your newsletter on their site and for you to reciprocate by doing likewise. If this sometimes means working with your competition in a type of "co-opitition” deal, so be it. It can double or triple your subscription rate.
