opentaps Open Source ERP+CRM Suite to be Unveiled at MySQL Users Conference 2006

The opentaps open source ERP+CRM suite will be officially unveiled during MySQL Users Conference 2006 in Santa Clara, CA during April 24-27, 2006. This fully integrated suite can be deployed with open source databases like MySQL and offers a complete and scalable solution for managing customers, products, inventory, orders, manufacturing, warehouses, and accounting.

MySQL Users Conference 2006, SANTA CLARA, Calif., (PRWEB) April 15, 2006 -- Businesses worldwide can look forward to a fresh, new solution for enterprise software, as the opentaps project (www.opentaps.org) will be unveiling an open source ERP and CRM suite which can be deployed on open source databases such as MySQL.

Like the most advanced Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, the opentaps ERP+CRM suite supports all operations across the entire enterprise with a centralized database. Companies can use it to take orders from multiple online and brick-and-mortar stores, manage customers and sales opportunities, track inventory and manufacturing operations across multiple warehouses, and get up-to-the-minute financial results. Multiple users can access the application simultaneously through a web-based interface, and each user can have role-based security and a personalized view. Finally, customers and partners can interface with opentaps through a Service Oriented Architecture that supports standard web services protocols.

Unlike commercial alternatives, however, opentaps is an open source solution which can be freely used and modified. Furthermore, it can be deployed on an entire open source “stack,” including powerful open source databases such as MySQL.

These differences are key advantages for using opentaps versus alternative solutions. “Access to the source code gives users unprecedented flexibility to create a solution that suits their needs, while open source databases such as MySQL can deliver the lowest ultimate cost of ownership,” notes Si Chen, opentaps project manager.

"The opentaps project is an excellent example of the open source innovation that is happening at all layers of the software stack," said said Kaj Arnö, MySQL's vice president of open source community relations. "This innovation is giving businesses a wide range of high-quality, low-cost software for mission-critical applications, such as those for ERP and CRM."

The opentaps suite is a combination of the Open For Business (www.ofbiz.org) applications and CRM and general ledger modules from Open Source Strategies, Inc. It is developed in Java and incorporates open source projects such as Freemarker, beanshell, Apache Tomcat, Lucene, and Xerces.

Opentaps, an acronym for “open source enterprise application suite,” is a trademark of Open Source Strategies, Inc. MySQL is a trademark of MySQL AB. For more information, please see www.opentaps.org
