Share Article

The Journal of Empirical Research on Human Research Ethics is a unique new journal from UC Press, and the only one in the ethics field dedicated exclusively to empirical research.

University of California Press, a leading university publisher in the humanities and social sciences, proudly announces the launch of a new international quarterly journal, Journal of Empirical Research on Human Research Ethics (JERHRE). Featuring articles that focus on evidence-based approaches to problem-solving, JERHRE interprets ethical principles into practices appropriate to culture and context, enhances understanding of how ethical issues arise in given settings, and stands alone among the growing number of research ethics-focused journals. JERHRE articles will touch on particular research-ethics issues across a broad spectrum of disciplines, from the medical sciences to the social sciences and humanities. JERHRE will be an indispensable resource for institutional review board and ethics centers members, students and faculty of any discipline conducting or overseeing research with human subjects, and those scholars and investigators interested in the ethics of human research as a field of study.

"Both investigators and ethics committee members already regard JERHRE as their voice in debates about how research should be conducted, transforming them into collaborators in ethical problem solving. The insightful empirical studies being submitted are further evidence that JERHRE is a journal whose time has come."

-- Joan Sieber, Editor-in-Chief, JERHRE

"Those involved in the governance of human research projects have long needed a journal to address the ethical concerns particular to their field of study. JERHRE, with its focus on empirical research and cross-discipline approach, fills this void and promises to become a benchmark for all scholars and researchers whose studies involve a human component."

-- Rebecca Simon, University of California Press Associate Director for Journals.
