Broadcasting veteran launches a new network targeting America's true majority.

Marc Middleton, founder of Boomer Broadcasting Inc. has launched a network targeting America's fastest growing and most powerful demographic. The Active Aging Network consists of a multimedia website, The Growing Bolder Radio Show and the Growing Bolder Newspaper Column.

An 18-year veteran of the news media, Middleton recently left WESH in Orlando to concentrate on this underserved demographic. "There is a stunning demographic disconnect in the mainstream media," said Middleton. "Little to no content is created for the 50+ market but that is where the viewers and the money are found. The so-called "golden" demo of 18-49 is totally stagnant."

In the next 10 years, the U.S. 18+ population will grow by 22.9 million people but 22.1 million of that growth will happen in the 50+ segment. Within ten years, Americans over the age of 50 will make up more than 35% of the total U.S. population and 45% of the adult population.

"There's been a dramatic increase in both lifespan and healthspan," adds Middleton. "The culture of aging has changed dramatically. Stereotypes are being smashed. Men and women in their 50’s can now expect to enjoy at least 3, 4 or even 5 more decades of active living. Forget a middle age crisis, now it's all about middle age opportunity. The implications of this change will challenge and reward every aspect of our society but the mainstream media remains uninterested so we’ll provide the playbook for active aging. We’ll share the techniques and provide the motivation to pursue your dreams, to change your career, to actively engage in all life has to offer. We'll advocate for the mature market and confront ageism because it's a very real and debilitating social disease that has infected our youth worshiping society. "

The Active Aging Network is being launched in Central Florida, which has the perfect demographics – a large, and financially secure population of baby boomers. The 50+ market now controls over 66% of the discretionary income in America – more than $2 trillion dollars in annual income. "Contrary to popular belief, they have it and they spend it," says Middleton. "The 50+ demographic is rapidly changing every industry in America. We're tired of waiting for mainstream media and major marketers to wake up."
