Relive the 1800s and the Incredible Adventures of a Mountain Man

In David Arnold’s Skelly Gulch, a young man’s fortunes change when he finds his great uncle’s mining claim—and his incredible diary

(PRWEB) April 16, 2006 -- In David Arnold’s Skelly Gulch, a young man’s fortunes change when he finds his great uncle’s mining claim—and his incredible diary.

Watford City, North Dakota– In Skelly Gulch, David Arnold whisks readers back in time to an astonishing bygone world of mining towns and mountain men.

Nicolas Skelly grew up on stories about his Great Uncle Nicolas. But were the incredible stories true? With the help of an old Indian and a garage attendant, Nicholas tracks down his great uncle’s mining cabin—and his claim. But when he finds his great uncle’s diary, he discovers rewards far richer than any panhandler ever dreamed about.

Author David Arnold transports readers back to the 1800s, following the elder Nicolas as he hitches a ride on a western-bound wagon train to Oregon and becomes a mountain man. Times were tough, but the great mountains are tougher, and Nicolas knows that even one small mistake could cost him his life. He befriends the Indians and learns their ways, and he discovers the love of a good woman, Megan. But when she leaves the mountains, will he leave, too? Or is the call of the wild stronger than the call of the heart?

Fascinated by stories of mountain men, and wanting others to experience the adventure of historical Montana, David Arnold set about writing a novel that would not only be accurate, but thrilling, creating an astonishing bygone world readers will never forget.
