New Haven, CT (PRWEB) April 17, 2006 -- Robotube Games today announced the launch of its new direct-to-consumer portal for download of its mobile games.
Dennis Peters, CEO of Robotube, said, “Direct-to-consumer content delivery is a solution to the limited content libraries found in the ‘walled garden’ that the mobile customer has access to through its carriers. It’s still in its infancy…think Internet circa 1994. However, the vertical integration we’ve done with Robotube’s games is making the market more intriguing by opening up the content available.”
The new service offered through the Robotube Games website (www.robotubegames.com) allows customers to input their cell phone number to receive a text message link that will take them to a secure site to purchase and download games. The cost of the game can be paid by credit card or added directly to your wireless bill. Users can also visit www.rtgwap.com directly on their cell phones to shop for Robotube games.
Jason Cirillo, creative director of Robotube Games, said, “It works, and we’ve seen it working for some time now in Europe and Asia. This system is relatively new to The States. Our goal is to build an alternative channel to provide the best content to the widest audience without carriers to control it. As technology improves, we believe mobile entertainment will really explode. We’re poised to bring exciting new brands created for mobile through our distribution channel, not repurposed titles from the console market.”
According to Robotube, the most popular mobile download games have been two of its original games, Bloktonik and Zyrx, which are both quick-reflex skill games. The company has also begun publishing the third-party content on its direct-to-consumer channel, and has recently entered agreements with other game developers around the world, including Ozura of Malaysia.
Robotube Games was founded by Cirillo in 1999. As an online game developer from his apartment in Tokyo, Japan, it was when Cirillo teamed with Dennis Peters, founder of New Haven, CT-based Heavybag Media, that Robotube was able to establish itself. Heavybag Media provided the infrastructure to support Robotube games as the company expanded from online content to the mobile platform. In exchange, the growing distribution channels from Robotube’s library provide a creative extension to the interactive marketing programs that Heavybag can offer to its clients.
Robotube now offers more than 24 games, which are played online by over 200,000 visitors a month on the Robotube website. For further information, visit the company websites at www.robotubegames.com and www.heavybagmedia.com.
